Figure gives the x-t plot of a particle ...

Figure gives the x-t plot of a particle in one dimensional motion. Three different equal intervals of time are shown. In which interval is the average speed greatest and in which is it the least ? Give the sign of average velocity for each interval.

We know that the slope of `x to t` graph gives value of average velocity. Here, three graphs of same time intervals are shown.
Velocity in third interval is maximum because its slope is greater.
Velocity in second interval is minimum because its slope is smaller.
Velocities in `1^(st) and 2^(nd)` intervals are positive and in `3^(rd)` interval is negative. Because in `1^(st) and 2 ^(nd)` interval the slope is positive and in `3^(rd)` interval the slope is negative.

Figure gives the x-t plot of a particle is one dimensional motion. Give the signs of position, velocity and acceleration of the particle at t = 0.3s

If decrease in velocity is same in equal interval of time, then draw x to t graph.

Figure below shows the velocity-time graph of a one dimensional motion. Which of the following characteristic of the particle is represented by the shaded area?

A person walks along an east-west street and a graph of his displacement from home is shown in figure. His average velocity for the whole time interval is:-

Read each statement below carefully and state with reasons , if it is true of false : (a) The magnitude of a vector is always a scalar , (b) each component of a vector is always a scalar , (c ) the total path length is always equal to the magnitude of the displacement vector of a particle . (d) the average speed of a either greater or equal to the magnitude of average velocity of the particle over the same interval of time , (e ) Three vectors not lying in a plane can never add up to give a null vector .

Assertion: The average velocity of a particle is zero in a time interval. It is possible that the instantaneous acceleration is never zero in the interval. Reason: The magnitude of average velocity in an interval is equal to its average speed in that interval.

Explain clearly, with examples, the distinction between : (a) magnitude of displacement (sometimes called distance) over an interval of time, and the total length of path covered by a particle over the same interval, (b) magnitude of average velocity over an interval of time, and the average speed over the same interval. (Average speed of a particle over an interval of time is defined as the total path length divided by the time interval]. Show in both (a) and (b) that the second quantity is either greater than or equal to the first. When is the equality sign true ? (For simplicity, consider onedimensional motion only).

Assertion :- The displacement always equals the product of the average velocity and the time interval. Reason :- The average velocity always equals the mean value of the initial and final velocities.
