In aqueous basic solution like Fehling.s solution or Tollen.s reagent, fructose undergoes Lobry de Bruyn van Ekenstein rearrangement. The reaction leads to form a mixture of D-glucose, D-mannose and D-fructose.
Hence fructose acts as reducing sugar
