In a series LCR circuit, the voltage across the resistance, capacitance and inductance is 10 V each. If the capacitance is short circuited the voltage across the inductance will be

A

10V

B

`10sqrt2V`

C

`(10//sqrt2)V`

D

`20V`

The correct Answer is:
C

Here , ` R = X_L = X_C` (voltage across them is same )
Total voltage in the circuit ,
`V = I[R^2 + (X_L - X_C)^2]^(1//2) = IR = 10`volt
When capacitor is short circuited,
`I. = (10)/((R^2 + X_L^2)^(1//2)) = (10)/(sqrt2R)`
`therefoer `Potential drop across inductor ` = I.X_L = I.R = (10)/(sqrt2) V`
