A compound AB crystallizes in bcc lattice with unit edge length of 380 pm. Calculate (i)The distance between oppositely charged ions in the lattice.
(ii)Radius of `A^+` if radius of B is 175 pm

In bcc , Z=2 and `4r=sqrt3a`
(i)The distance between oppositely charged ions is 2r .
`therefore 2r=(sqrt3a)/2`
`therefore 2r=(sqrt3xx380)/2=1.732xx190=329.1` pm
(ii)`r_(A^+)^(o+)=2r-r_B`
`r_(A^+)`=329.1-175=154.1 pm
