What is the molarity of a solution of H2...

What is the molarity of a solution of `H_2SO_4` which has density of 1.84g/ml and contains 98% (w/ w) `H_2SO_4` solution.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Density of `H_2SO_4`= 1.84 g/ml
Weight of `H_2SO_4` present in 1000 ml of the solution, when the purity is 98% =
`1000xx1.84xx98/100` g = 1803.2 g
Gram molecular weight of `H_2SO_4` = 98 g
`therefore` Molarity `=(W/(G.M.W))_"solute" xx1000/V_"ml" = 1803.2/98xx1000/1000`=18.4 M
