A complete set of fundamental quantities and derived quantities are called system of units. In earlier time scientist of different countries were using different system of units for measurement. The system of unit which were in use extensively till recently are as follows:
(i) FPS (British) system: Foot, Pound. Second
(ii) CGS system : Centimeter, Gram and Second
(iii) MKS system: Meter, Kilogram, Second
(iv) MKSA system: Meter, Kilogram, Second, Ampere
(v) SI system: Recently this system is in use.
