At present internationally accepted unit system is (the Systeme Internationale d. Unites).
In French language it is called international unit system.
It is abbreviated as SI.
In SI system there are 7 (Seven) fundamental quantities.
These physical quantities, their unit and symbol was developed and recommended by General Conference on Weights and Measurement in 1971 for international usage in scientific, technical and commercial work.
As SI system uses decimal system, conversion are simple and convenient. Seven physical quantities, their unit and symbol are listed as follow :
