Which devices are used for measurement of length of different order?

Explain direct and indirect method of measurement of length. In laboratory sometimes length is to be measured. If device (instrument) like meterscale, vernier calipers, micrometer, screw gauge or spherometer are used to measure length then it is called direct method for measurement of length. To measure very large distance like distance between celestial objects some special method are used such method are called indirect method.
