By suitable example show that "Trailing zero in nonzero number are not significant".

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A vernier callipers has least count of 0.01 cm. By using this we measure length of a cylinder. Zero of vernier is on. 3.5. This means that zero of vernier is at `5^(th)` thread between 3 cm and 4 cm.
By considering significant digit we should represent diameter of as 3.5 cm. Here, last digit is significant digit because it is measured with vernier having least count of 0.01 cm. In this case, for a nonzero number trailing zero is significant digit.
