Monochromatic light of frequency 6.0xx10...

Monochromatic light of frequency `6.0xx10^(14)` Hz is produced by a laser.The power emitted is `2.0xx10^(-3)` W. (a)What is the energy of a photon in the light beam?(b)How many photons per second.on an average ,are emitted by the source?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here frequency `v=6.0xx10^(14)` Hz
power P=`2.0xx10^(-3)` W
h=`6.63xx10^(-34)` Js
(a)Energy of each photon,
E=hv
`therefore E=6.63xx10^(-34)xx6.0xx10^(14)`
`=39.78xx10^(-20)` J
`=3.98xx10^(-19)` J
(b)Let source emit N number of photon every second.Then from given beam of LASER Power Produce=energy per photon X number of photon.
P=NE
`therefore N=(P)/(E)=(2.0xx10^(-3))/(3.98xx10^(19))`
`therefore N~~5.0xx10^(15)"photon/sec"`
