When Morgan conduced dihybrid cross on Drosophila like Mendel did with pea plants, the `F_(2)` ratios deviated significantly from than of Mendel's `F_(2)` ratio. Write the explanation Morgan and his group gave to the observations they obtained from their experimant.

Morgan and his group kenw that the genes were located on the x-chromosome and saw quickly that when the two genes in a dihybrid cross were situated on the same chromosome, the proportion of parental gene combination were much higher than the non-parental type. Morgan attributed this due to the physical association or linkage of the two genes and coined the term 'linkage' to describe the physical association of genes on a chromosome and the term 'recombination' to describe the generation of non-parental gene combination. Morgan and his group also found that even when genes were grouped on the same chromosome, some genes were tightly linked while others were loosely linked

When Morgan conducted dihybrid cross on Drosophila like Mendel did with pea plants, the F_(2) ratios deviated significantly from than of Mendel's F_(2) ratio. Write the explanation Morgan and his group gave to the observations they obtained from their experiment.

Morgan carried out several dihybrid crosses in Drosophila and found F_(2) -rations deviated very significantly from the expected Mendelian ratio. Explain his findings with the help of and example.

Name the plant Mendel used for his experiment. What type of progeny was obtained by Mendel in F_(1) and F_(2) generations when he crossed the tall and short plants? Write the ratio he obtained in F_(2) generation plants.

Morgan hybridised yellow-bodied, white-eyed females to brown-bodied red-eyed males and intercrossed their F_(1) progeny. He observed that (a) F_(2) ratio was deviated very significantly from the 9:3:3:1 ratio (b) Both genes did not segregate independently of each other (c) Recombinant types are not obtained in F_(2) generation (d) Both genes segregate independently of each other Select the correct set of statements :

(a) Dihybrid cross between two garden pea plant one homozygous tall with round seeds and the other with wrinkled seeds was carried. (i) Write the genotype and phenotype of the F_(1) progeny obtained from this cross. (ii) Give the different types of gametes of the F_(1) progeny. (iii) Write the phenotypes and its ratios of the F_(2) generation obtained in this cross along with the explanation provided by Mendel. (b) How were the observations of F_(2) progeny of dihybrid crosses in Philosophical by Morgan different from that of Mendel carried in Pea plants ? Explain giving reasons.

Which of the following phenotypic ratio was found by Mendel in F_(2) generation of a dihybrid cross ?

In quantitative inheritance F_(2) ratio obtained in a dihybrid cross is

The F_(2) progeny of a monohybrid cross showed phenotypic and genotypic ratio as 1:2:1 , unlike that of Mendel's monohybrid F_(2) ratio. With the help of a suitable example, work out a cross and explain how it is possible.
