A flower of tomato plant following the process of sexual reproduction produces 200 viable seeds.
Answer the following question giving reasons:
(a) What would have been the minimum number of ovules present per-pollinated pistil ?
(b) How many microspore mother cells would minimally be required to produce requisite number of pollen grains ?
(c) How many pollen grains must have minimally pollinated the carpel ?
(d) How many male gametes would have used to produce these 200 viable seeds ?
How many megaspore mother cells were required in this process?

The Number of viable seed produces by the tomato plant through sexual reprodution = 200
(b ) The Number of ovles mini mally involved in this process would be 200 as the number of ovules corredspond to number of seeds formed .
( b) In the above ,case 50 microspore mother cells must have undergone reduction divions prior to dehiscesnes of anther as each microspore mother cells would give rise to 4 microspoers there should be 50 microspore mother cells .
( c) The minimum of pollen grains contains 2 male gametes . Out of these 2 gamete 1 fuse with polar nuclei an forms endrosperm , while the other male gamete fuses with the egg cells to form the zygote which eventually gives rise to seeds .
( d) The number of male gametes involved in seed formation would be 200 as each male gamete will fuse with 1 egg nuclei to form a zygote, which' will further give rise to the seed.
( e) In the process of gametogenesis, 200 megaspore mother cells would be involved. Only one megaspore of the tetrad be come functional and develops further and the rest three are degenerated.
