(i) A transistor has a current gain of 30. If the collector resistance is `6 K Omega` and input resistance is `1 K Omega`, calculate its voltage gain.
(ii) Why is a semiconductor damaged by strong current ?

Text Solution

(i) Resistance gain `=(R_(o))/(R_(i))=(6K Omega)/(1K Omega)=6`. Voltage gain= Current gain `xx` Resistance gain `= 30xx6=180`.
(ii) As heavy current causes the semiconductor to heatup. Since there is more power passing through, a portion of that energy is converted in to heat.
