(i) They react with metals to give out hydrogen gas and produces metal salt. E.g
`Zn+2HCl to ZnCl_2+H_2`
(Zinc) (Hydrochloric acid) (Zinc chloride) (Hydrogen)
(ii) They react with bases to form salt and water e.g.
`2NaOH+H_2SO_4 to Na_2SO_4+2H_2O`
(Sodium hydroxide) (Sulphuric acid) (Sodium sulphate) (water)
(iii) They react with metal carbonates to liberate `CO_2` gas and produces salt and water.
`Na_2CO_3+2HCl to 2NaCl+H_2O+CO_2`
(Sodium carbonate) (Hydrochloric acid) (Sodium chloride) (Water) (Carbon dioxide)
