(1) The promoter : It is the binding site of RNA polymerase for initiation of transcription located towards 5 end (upstream) of the structural gene.
(2) The structural gene : It codes for enzyme or protein for structural gene.
(3) The terminator : It is the region where transcription ends and is located towards 31 - end (downstream) of the coding strand.
(4) The template strand : The DNA strand that has the polarity `3^(1)rarr5^(1).` acts as a template.
(5) The coding strand : The DNA strand which does not get transcribed and has a polarity `5^(1)rarr3^(1)`.
