Two circular rings of equal mass and rad...

Two circular rings of equal mass and radius are placed in such a way that their centres coincide but their planes are mutually perpendicular. Find the moment of inertia of the system when the system is rotated about the diameter of one of the rings.

Text Solution

M.I of ring about its centre `=MR^(2)`
M.I of a ring about its diameter `=(MR^(2))/(2)`
`:.I=MR^(2)+(MR^(2))/(2)=(3MR^(2))/(2)`
