Derive an integrated rate equation for t...

Derive an integrated rate equation for the rate constant of a zero order reaction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Consider a zero order reaction
`R to P`
Rate `= (-d[R])/(dt)`
`=k [R]_0`
`(-d[R])/(dt) =k xx1`
Integrating
`[R] = -kt + I`
When `t =0,[R] =[R]_0` then
`I = [R]_0`
`[R] =-kt + [R]_0`
`k =([R]_0-[R])/(t)`
