What are the benefits of mixing ethanol with petrol and diesel?

i. Petrol and diesel are exhaustible sources of energy, it is expensive and burning of these fuels causes air pollution.
ii. However, ethanol is obtained by fermentation of molasses using yeast (Saccharomyces) and thus the cost of production is less.
iii. Ethanol is a clean fuel. When ethanol is mixed with petrol of diesel, it burns more efficiently, minimizes the use of valuable fossil fuel resoureces and reduces the pollution caused by them.
