Write a short note on cloning.

Explanation

i. Cloning is the process of production of replica of any cell or organ or an entire organism.
ii. Enucleated ovum to form a complete new organsism is known as reproductive cloning.
iii. Somatic cells are fused with an enuleated egg cell, in order to obtain stem cells. This is known as therapeutic cloning.
iv. Genes can also be cloned to produce millions of copies that can used for gene therapy to treat hereditary diseases.
