The river water contains negatively charged sand and clay particles. The sea water contains +vely charged ions `(Na^+, Mg^+2, Ca^+2 etc.)`. As the river water meets the sea water, these ions discharge the sand or clay particles which are precipitated as delta (due to coagulation).
