Gold number is defined as minimum number of milligram of a protective colloid that must added to 10ml of a standard gold solution to prevent coagulation when 1 ml of a `10%` aqueous solution of NaCl is added to it. Lower the gold number means greater is the protective power of the protecting colloid and vice versa.
