A person sitting in an artificial satellite revolving around the earth feels weightlessness. Why ?

For an aeroplane to fly, air is necessary. Due to friction force of air, the aeroplane requires fuel. On the otherhand, a satellite revolves at much height where air friction is nearly negligible. Hence, the satellite does not require any fuel.
