Aluminium containing alumina as impurity...

Aluminium containing alumina as impurity can be refined by poling or not. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Aluminium containing alumina cannot be refined by poling. Aluminium is more electropositive, thus hydrocarbons released from green wood poles and carbon cannot reduce alumina.
