Calculate moment of inertia w.r.t. rotational axis XX' in following figures.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Moment of inertia about XX'
`I_(XX"')=m_(1)r_(1)^(2)+m_(2)r_(2)^(2)=4xx(1-0.7)^(2)+1xx(1-0.2)^(2)`
`I_(XX')=4xx(0.3)^(2)+1xx(0.8)^(2)=1 "kg-m"^(2)`
(ii) Moment of inertia about axis `XX'`
`I_(XX')=4xx(3)^(2)+2xx(2)^(2)+3xx(4)^(2)=92"kg-m"^(2)`.
