A simple telescope consisting of an objective of focal length 60 cm and a single eye lens of focal length 5 cm is focused on a distant object in such a way that parallel rays emerge from eye lens. If the object subtends an angle of `2^(@)` at the objective, the angular width of the image is (Let `tan theta=theta` assuming `theta` small).

A

`10^(@)`

B

`24^(@)`

C

`50^(@)`

D

`(1^(@))/(6)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

For telescope
It is a case of normal adjustment
Hence, `M =(F_(0))/(F_(e))also M =beta//alpha`
`Therefore ,(beta)/(alpha)=(f_(0))/(f_(e))`
Here `F_(0)=60 cm F_(e)=5cmrArralpha=2^(@)`
Hence, `beta=24^(@)`
