Role of Microbes in Industrial products
Microbes have been used for the production of beverages like wine, beer, whisky, brandy or rum.
Yeast - Saccharomyces cerevisiae is used for bread making and also for fermenting malted cereals and fresh juices.
Antibiotics can be extracted from the fungi(Mould)- Penicillium notatum i.e., purified from other microbes.
Microbes are also used for production of certain chemicals like Organic acids, alcohols and enzymes.
Ex : Acetic acid - Acetobacter aceti.
