Differentiate between Compound leaf and a branch

A compound leaf never bears a terminal bud whereas a branch always bears a terminal bud. Moreover, a compound leaf always bears a bud in its axil (axillary bud) but itself does not arise in the axil of another leaf, whereas a branch does not bear an axillary bud but itself occupies the axillary position of a leaf.
