Is it right to name the layer of simple cuboidal epithelium on the surface of ovary as germinal epithelium?

The layer of cuboidal epithelium on the surface of ovary is actually not germinal epithelium. It represents visceral peritoneum. The term still exists because its cuboidal epithelial cells were once thought to produce oocyte. It is now named as ovarian epithelium.
