Give reasons for the following: Aluminium is used in transmission wires.

Aluminium is a good conductor of electricity and on weight to weight basis, it conducts twice as much current as conducted by Cu. Aluminium wires are lighter and cheaper. Therefore, aluminium wire is used to make transmission cables.
