What is meant by positive and negative adsorptions?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Positive adsorption is the phenomenon involving higher concentration of adsorbate on the surface of adsorbent than to concentration of adsorbate in the bulk phase. On the other hand, negative adsorption is the phenomenon involving lesser concentration of adsorbate on the surface of adsorbent as compared to the concentration of adsorbate in the bulk of adsorbent.
