Lead nitrate solution is mixed with dilute hydrochloric acid and heated to give lead chloride and nitric acid :
`Pb(NO_3)_2 + 2HCl rarr PbCl_2 darr + 2HNO_3`
Lead chloride is a white precipitate solution in warm water but on heating colourless solution is observed.
