When a piece of magnetic material is brought near a permanent magnet, the following phenomenon occurs step by step:
(i) By induction opposite polarity appears in the near end of the magnetic material.
(ii) Since the opposite poles attract each other, now the permanent magnet attracts the magnetic material.
