Give reasons why :
Sodium chloride will conduct electricity only in fused or aqueous solution state.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In solid state , sodium chloride ions are held by electrostatic aattraction , thus does not conduct electrcity . But when the NaCl melts , or dissolve in water on fused the crvstal lattice breaks down and the charged particles i.e., `Na^(+)` and Cl ions are free to move allowing electricity to be conducted.
