An alkene ‘A’ contains three C – C, eight C – H `(sigma)` bonds and one C – C `(pi)` bond. ‘A’ on ozonolysis gives two moles of an aldehyde of molar mass 44 u. Write IUPAC name of ‘A’.

The aldehyde having molar mess 44u is ethanal, `CH_(3)CHO`. As the alkene .A. gives two moles of ethanal on ozonolysis, its structure can be obtained by removing oxygen atoms from the two molecules of ethanal and joining them by a double bond.
`2(CH_(3)- underset(underset(H)(|))(C)=O)` Ethanal Thus, the alkene .A. would be:
`underset("But-2-ene")(CH_(3)-underset(underset(H)(|))(C )= underset(underset(H)(|))(C )- CH_(3)) or H overset(sigma)-underset(underset(H)(|sigma))overset(overset(H)(|sigma))(C ) overset(sigma)- underset(underset(H)(|sigma))(C )underset(sigma)overset(pi)= underset(underset(H)(|sigma))(C) overset(sigma)- underset(underset(H)(|sigma))overset(overset(H)(|sigma))(C ) overset(sigma)- H`
As per the above structure, but -2-ene has three C-C, eight C-H `-sigma`-bonds and one C-C `pi`-bond.
