Explain the following
After alighting from a moving bus, one has to run for some distance in the direction of bus in order to avoid falling.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When a person alight from a moving bus, his body remains in motion due to inertia of motion. If he stops immediately, his feet will come to rest but the upper part of the body will still remain in motion due to inertia of motion and there will be a tendency to fall forward. To avoid the falling, he should run a little distance, slow down his speed and then stop.
