Depending on the direction of propagation of nerve impulses, nerves are of two types: efferent and afferent. Efferent nerves conduct nerve impulses from the central nervous system to the peripheral organs and tissues. Whereas afferent nerves conduct impulses from the peripheral tissues and organs towards the central nervous system.
