Do the points (-2,5),(3,-4) lie on the same or opposite sides of the circle `3x^2+3y^2-5x-93=0`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The equation of the circle is `x^2+y^2 - 5/3 x - 31=0` (On division with 3)
`therefore` For `(-2,5),4+25 - 5/3 (-2)-31 = 4/3 gt0`
and for `(3,-4), 9+16- 5/3 cdot 3 -31=-11lt 0 `
`therefore` the given points lie on opposite sides of the circle.
