A train of 150m length is going towards ...

A train of `150m` length is going towards North direction at a speed of `10m//s`. A parrot flies at the speed of `5m//s` towards South direction parallel to the railways track. The time taken by the parrot to cross the train is

A

`12 s`

B

`8 s`

C

`15 s`

D

`10 s`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

(d) Relative velocity of bird with respect to train is
`V_(B T) = V_B + V_T = 5 + 10 = 15 ms^-1`
[Because they are going in opposite direction]
Time taken by the bird to cross the train is `(150)/(5) = 10 s`.
