A system of men and trolley is shown in ...

A system of men and trolley is shown in Fig. To the left, end of the string, a trolley of mass `M` is connected on which a man of mass `m` is standing. To the right end of the string another trolley of mass `m` is connected on which a man of mass `M` is standing. Initially, the system is at rest. All of a sudden both the men leap upwards simultaneously with the same velocity `u` w.r.t. ground.

Find the relative velocity of left man with respect to his trolley just after he leaps upwards.

A

When the men are at the highest point of their motion, the trolleys will also be instantaneously at rest.

B

When the men are at the highest point of their motion, then the left trolley will be moving downwards.

C

Impulse acting on both the men will be same in the given process.

D

None of these

The correct Answer is:
A

Time taken for men to come to rest:
`t_(1)=u/g`
Acceleration of trolleys (after the men have jumped)
`a=((m-M))/(m+M)g`
Time taken by trolleys to come to rest:
`t_(1)=(u_(0))/a=u/g`

A block of mass M is connected with a particle of mass m by a light inextensible string as shown in fig. Assuming all contaction surfaces as smooth, find the acceleration of the wedge after releasing the system.

Two masses m and M are attached to the strings as shown in the figure. If the system is in equilibrium, then

When the trolley show in figure is given a horizontal acceleration a , the pendulem bob of mass m gets deflected to a maximum deflection , the net acceleration of the bob with respect to trolley is

A particle of mass 2m is connected by an inextensible string of length 1.2 m to a ring of mass m which is free to slide on a horizontal smooth rod. Initially the ring and the particle are at the same level with the string taut. Both are then released simultaneously. The distance in meter moved by the ring when the string becomes veritcal is :-

In Fig. a pulley is shown which is frictionless and a ring of mass m can slide on the string without any friction. One end of the string is attached to point B and to the other end, a block 'P' of mass m is attached. The whole system lies in vertical plane. If the system is released from rest, it is found that the system remains at rest. What is the value of theta
