The frequency of a radiation belonging to radio waves is `3 xx 10^(7)Hz`. Find the wave number and wavelength of the radiation.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For the given radiation
`v= 3xx 10^(7) Hz`
`c=v lambda`
`lambda=c/v=(3.0 xx 10^(8))/(3.0 xx 10^(7))=10m=1000cm (therefore c=3.0 xx 10^(8) ms^(-1))`
and `barv=1/lambda=1/(1000)=10^(-3) cm^(-1)`
Hence, the wavelength of the given radiation is 1000 cm and the number is `10^(-3) cm^(-1)`.
