Find the direction cosines of the line p...

Find the direction cosines of the line passing through the two points (-1, 2, 3) and (2, -3, 5).

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We know that the direction cosine of a line joining two points P and Q are given by
`(x_(2) - x_(1))/(PQ), (y_(2)-y_(1))/(PQ),(z_(2)-z_(1))/(PQ)`
here `PQ = sqrt ((x_(2) -x_(1))^(2)+(y_(2)-y_(1))^(2)+(z_(2)-z_(1))^(2))`
Thus the direciton cosines of line joining two points is
`3/sqrt(38), (-5)/sqrt(38), 2/sqrt(38)`
