A gas is filled in a container at `27^@ C`. On increasing the temperature to `127^@ C`, 1 litre (having `(1)/(4)`th mass) of the gas escape out of the container. Calculate the volume of the container.

Text Solution

Let the volume of container be V
`thereforeT_(2)=(273+27)K`
=300K
`V_(1)=V`
`T_(2)=(273+127)K`
=400K
`V_(2)=V+1`
From charles' law
`(V_(1))/(T_(1))=(V_(2))/(T_(2))`
`implies(V)/(300)=(V+1)/(400)`
`implies4V=3V+3`
Hence V=3 litre.
