What do you mean by thermal motion of free electrons in conductors ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In conductors some of the electrons are practically free to move within the conductor, kinetic energy of these electrons depends of the temperature T of conductor i.e., `E = (3)/(2) KT`, where k = Boltzmann sodium constant . So, the motion in these electrons is known as thermal motion.
