You might be tempted to mark the option (3) but that is incorred . You may argue that just now we said , `v_(d)` is independent of the corss - secctional area. But you see, the earlier discussion was related to comparing two separate conductors but here you have to compare two different points of the same conductor . Always remember for comparison purpose you should write the comparison equation in those terms which remain constant. Here current . Here current entering the conductor and leaving it , remains constant . So , use the equation I = n.e.v.
Now , as l ,n, e are constant ` therefore V ` become constant .
So , larger the cross- sectional area A, smaller is `V_(d)`
Now ` because A_(2) gt A_(1)`
`therefore V_(2) lt V_(1)` that means `V_(1) gt V_(2)` .
