Four cells each of emf E and internal re...

Four cells each of emf E and internal resistance r are connected in series to form a loop ABCD. Find potential difference across (1) AB, (2) AC

Text Solution

All cells are connected correctly in series , so net emf `E(eq) = 4 E`
Net internal resistance ` r_(eq) = 4 r`
So , current l in the circult
` l = (4E)/(4r) = (E)/(r)`
Potential difference across AB
`V_(A) - V_(B) = E - Ir = E - (E)/(R) r = 0 V`
`V_(A) - V_(C) = V_(A) - V_(B) + V_(B)- V_(C)`
` = E - Ir + E - It = 0 V`
