A simple potentiometer circuit is shown in the figure. The internal resistance of the 4V battery is negligible. AB is a uniform wire of length 100 cm and resistance `2Omega`. What would be the length AC for zero galvanometer deflection (in mm)?

Current in the circuit is `(4V)/((2+2.4)Omega)`
Resistance per unit length of the wire is `(2 Omega)/(100 cm)`
Let x be the balancing length
then use V = IR
or `1.5V = (4V)/((2+2.4 ) Omega) .(2 Omega)/(100 cm)`
` therefore x = 82.5 cm`
