Find the equation of the parabola satisfying the following condition,
focus(6,0), directrix `x=-6`.

Since.the focus . .(6,0).. lies on the .x. -axis, the .x. axis itself is the axis of the parabola. Hence either .y^2=4 a x. .or .y^2 harpoons-4 a x .. Since the directrix, is .x=-6. and the focus is .(6,0)., the parabola is to be of the form .y^2=4 a x., with .a=6. Hence the required equation is .y^2=4 xx 3 xx x=24 x.
