A disc is rolling without sliding on a horizontal surface. Velocity of the centre of the disc is `V`. Then the maximum relative sped of any point on the circumference of the disc with respect to point `P` is.

A

`V`

B

`2V`

C

`3V`

D

`(2V)/(3)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

In reference frame attached to the entre of the disc, the velocity of point `P` is along th tangent, A point which is diametrically oppsite to `P` has same velocity in oppsite direction. This point has maximum speed relative to `P`. This maximum is equal to `2v`.
