Figure shows a hydraulic press with the larger piston of diameter 35 cm at a height of 1.5 m relative to the smaller piston of diameter 10 cm. The mass on the smaller piston is 20 kg. What is the force exerted on the load by the larger piston ? The density of oil in the press is `750 kgm^(-3)`. Take,`g=9.8 ms^(-2)`

Pressure on the smaller piston `= (20 xx 9.8)/(pi xx (5 xx 10^(-2))^(2)) N//m^(2)`
Pressure on the larger piston `= (F)/(pi xx (17.5 xx 10^(-2))^(2)) N//m^(2)`
The difference between the two pressures `= hrhog`
Thus, `(20 xx 9.8)/(pi xx (5 xx 10^(-2))^(2)) - (F)/(pi xx (17.5 xx 10^(-2))^(2)) = 1.5 xx 750 xx 9.8 = 11025`
`rArr F = 1.3 xx 10^(3)N`
