What is corroison? What are the factors which affect corrosion? `CO_(2)` is always present in natural water. Explain its effect (increases stops or no effect) on rusting of Fe.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Corroison is process in which metal reacts with substances present in atmosphere to form surface compounds. Air moisture, presence of `CO_(2)` are factors which affect corrosion. `CO_(2)` increase rusting of iron because greater the number of `H^(+)` ions faster rusting will take place.
